and welcome to my little corner of the internet. my virtual home. a mindful space that i created to share my passions and connect with other adventurous souls.
i’m nikki ☾ a salty soul with a passion for life. i am a marine biologist and yoga teacher. earth lover and barefoot wanderer. i’m on a journey to live my bliss every day and to inspire others to be fearless in the pursuit of whatever sets their soul on fire.
life is meant to be lived, and i intend to live it with passion and purpose
Where does your mind go when it wanders… when you allow yourself to relax, withdraw from your surroundings, and be completely present in the current moment? What do you see, how do you feel? What is it that makes your soul smile?
Does your mind take you to where you are right now? Are you living in the present moment or are you wishing that your life looked different? I’m going to let in on a little secret: you are exactly where you are meant to be, right here, right now. And if you aren’t satisfied with your current reality, realize that you were brought to this exact moment in your life to decide to make a change.
Because YOU are the creator of your reality. Your thoughts do not become your reality, your thoughts are your reality. And it is because of this that we are able to manifest our wildest dreams into existence. You were born into this world filled with pure positive, high vibrational energy and somewhere along the way external influences lowered that vibration. But, you can get back to your natural high vibrational state simply by feeling good. By choosing to exist in the present moment and being mindful of your thoughts.
It’s never too late to make a change. The first step… breathe deep and let everything that doesn’t serve you go.
by the year 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fist. we are treating this planet like we have another option. and at the current rate, we will destroy it before we find one.
every day we have an infinite number of choices before us. and with every choice we make, regardless of how big or small it may seem, has the potential to have a HUGE impact on our planet.
its not just about the sea turtles or the plastic straw. its about our entire planet and our entire existence. for many of us we are fortunate to not have our beaches covered in pollution and marine life washing up dead on our shores, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t our problem too.
we don’t need a handful people doing zero waste perfectly, what we need is millions of people doing it imperfectly. all i am asking is that you open your mind and try.
our human existence is far too short to accept anything less than exceptional as our reality.
fortunately for us life is filled with boundless opportunity and abundance in all things. so much so that we are freeing ourselves from the confines of societal pressure and expectation and taking back our lives for ourselves.
too often we dwell in the past and worry about the future. too often we stay uncomfortable in an effort to keep others comfortable. but life is meant to be lived right now. it is meant to be lived with purpose and passion. it’s meant to be lived for each other. for the planet. for all living beings. it’s time to return to simplicity. to pure joy. to wake up every morning filled with gratitude for everything that you have and everything that is coming to you.
if it’s freedom that you crave, be free. if it’s abundance that you crave, allow it to flow to you. if it’s more time that you desire, realize that there is only now. and right now you have the ability to do and be anything that you can dream of.
if you’ve been looking a sign, this might be it.
an opportunity to live the life you desire, to have the freedom to create your life by design.
if you’ve been looking for a career that allows complete time, money, and location freedom, then i have an opportunity for you.
The Eight Limbed Path
If you asked me a few years ago what yoga was I would have said stretching. But, if you ask me today my answer, just like my practice, has evolved and I would tell you that it is a lifestyle.
Yoga is so much more than the poses. Its about living with mindfully with conscious intent.
It can be difficult to understand the impacts of our consumption when its not right in front of our face. We don’t typically see the trash pilling up in our landfills or being stored in processing facilities. We put out our recycling bins every week feeling good about our choices without knowing that the majority of items that we put in that bin will not actually be recycled. We fall into the mindset of I’m just one person…
Confessions of a Marine Biologist - Pt II
I’ve shared my story before… what initially sparked my interest in saving the reefs, how I overcame my fears to get back in the water, the highlights of how I got where I am today, and a little peek at what I do now.
But if you read Confessions of a Marine Biologist, I never really told you WHY.
