What is Kangen Water?

Kangen water is an electronically reduced, hydrogen rich performance drinking water.

The Kangen machine filters your tap water to produce 5 types of ionized alkaline and acidic waters through electrolysis. These waters have a variety of everyday uses including drinking water, cooking, cleaning, and beauty care.

Check out a comprehensive list of Kangen water uses here!

Kangen water has four key properties that make it the superior drinking water.

1. Antioxidant

Kangen water is rich in active molecular hydrogen which can act as a power antioxidant. Antioxidants are simple molecules known to counter oxidative stress, a process that can trigger cell damage, from free radicals. Oxidative stress is thought to play a role in several diseases including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and eye diseases, such as cataracts and age -related macular degeneration (NIH).

While there are inherent risks associated with taking antioxidant supplements, several decades of dietary research have suggested that consuming greater amounts of antioxidant rich foods and water may help prevent diseases.

2. Micro-clustered

Water filtered through the Kangen machine contains fewer molecules, resulting in smaller clusters compared to regular tap, bottled, or filtered waters. This " micro-clustered water " can hydrate your body more quickly and effectively. Micro-clustered water can also increase energy levels and improve your overall aerobic capacity. Because water molecules are smaller, they are better able to penetrate cell walls. This is extremely beneficial for supplement absorption, such as vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, and UKON.

3. Alkalized

There is a big difference between alkaline water (water with chemicals, such as sodium bicarbonate, lemon, lye, etc.) and alkalized water (water over energy, electron rich). Kangen Water is produced with 8 platinum-dipped titanium plates for improved water ionization and increased antioxidant production potential (statistics for the Enagic K8). This allows the naturally occurring alkaline minerals to remain in the water (unlike reverse osmosis). The alkalized properties of Kangen water are the direct result of the electrolysis process, not the addition of chemicals. This process, and resulting alkalized state, is a massive aid to blood regulation.

Regardless of what you eat or drink, your body naturally regulates your blood pH to 7.365 via buffers. However, we live in a world where nearly everything we eat, drink, breathe, and absorb is likely to be acidic. Every time you ingest or absorb something acidic, your body leaches alkaline minerals (Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium) in order to maintain homeostasis. As such, we become mineral deficient which can lead to a number of diseases and ailments.

Drinking Kangen water helps regulate homeostasis by preventing mineral deficiency and as described above eliminating free radicals from the body. In order to reap the full benefits of alkaline water it must also contain these alkaline minerals and have a negative oxidation reduction potential (ORP).

4. Rich in Active Molecular Hydrogen + Negative ORP

Active hydrogen molecules neutralize active oxygen (free radicals) in your body that cause aging and disease. The more free radicals we are able to neutralize, the more toxins we can effectively flush from our system.

Oxidation reduction potential (ORP) is the ability of water to act as an antioxidant (or pro-oxidant). A high positive ORP is ideal for sewage treatment and swimming pools. However, the ORP of a healthy body is always on the reductive side (negative ORP). Consuming liquids with a high ORP, like soft drinks and tap water, reduces to a reductive ORP (in the body) at the expense of energy from our cell membranes. Active hydrogen helps to create an alkaline buffer in the bloodstream (through the prevention of mineral leaching), facilitating in the neutralizing of the body when you consume something acidic.

Tap Water

Although, tap water is a healthier option compared to sodas, over 300 pollutants have been found in America’s tap water since 2004, and over half of these pollutants are completely unregulated; meaning they can legally exist in any concentration (EWG).

Bottled Water

Bottled water is expensive, and not necessarily healthier than tap water. Not to mention, its is one of the major contributors to plastic pollution worldwide. Often the only difference between bottled water and tap water is the added minerals which have no proven health benefits. A four-year study by the Natural Resources Defense Council revealed that 1/3 of all bottled water tested contained levels of contamination which exceed allowable limits. Additionally, bottled water typically tests slightly acidic, which may affect your body's pH and antioxidant balance.

Reverse Osmosis Water

Reverse Osmosis is a filtering process which may be effective in areas that do not receive municipally treated water and is commonly used in bottled water facilities. However, reverse osmosis removes the healthy, naturally occurring water minerals which serve a vital function in the body's system. Also, 2-3 gallons of water are wasted for every gallon of purified water produced.
